 What is a System Integrator?

For over 26 years, HRI has been performed System Integration services for our clients. What is a system integrator? The SI provides much more service than do the other actors in the distribution channel. The table below distinguishes this vital role from the others.

Retail Dealers Buy a product and mark it up and sell it to the end user like Best Buy, or CompUSA or Frys. You buy the product, but you have to figure out how to make it work.
Value Added Reseller Buys a product from the wholesaler or manufacturer and marks it up, sells it to the end user and may or may not install it. They may provide training.
Wholesaler or distributor Purchases products from manufacturers, marks them up and sells them to Retail Dealers
System Integrator
  • Learns what the end user wants and creates a list of “functional requirements” with the end user
  • Tells the user what components to purchase
  • Assembles the components of the system (hardware & software) for the end user
  • Installs and configures the system in the end user’s facilities
  • Programs the applications from the the hardware & software of the user
  • Trains the user on how to use the new applications
  • Provides support until the end user is self sustaining
